Slugs love moist areas where there is abundant decaying organic
matter. Shaded areas under broad leaved plants is a favorite hiding
spot. Slugs feed on decaying and also on living plant tissue creating
an eyesore. Many different control tactics for slugs have been invented
over the years. However, few are as effective as commercially available
slug baits (containing mesural or metaldehyde). These can be purchased
from hardware or plant centers and should beapplied in the garden
as per label directions.
